I’m breastfeeding, and think I might have thrush. I don’t have all the symptoms, but my nipples really hurt when I nurse. I don’t have shooting pain in my breasts, and the pain doesn’t last once I stop nursing. But when I nurse it feels like baby has razors in her mouth. I feel great relief when I stop.
I don’t think it’s improper latch. She’s 9months , so I think by now she knows how to latch properly.
I thought of using gentian violet and acidophilus. Is it okay to take lactobacilus acidophilus if you can’t drink milk? If not what else can I take?
And also, can I use gentian violet? Will it stain my baby’s teeth?

Answer by KooriGirlIf you are lactose intolerant, lactobacillus acidophillus is very good for you, as it helps to break down lactose (milk sugars) by producing the enzyme lactase, which lactose intolerant individuals do not produce.

What ages does thrush effect infants? What are the symptoms? The reason I am asking is because my 9 week olds tongue is a little whiter then normal and she is starting to not eat as well as before.
She is not breastfed.

Answer by alikatAvas mommy, there you are worrying again! It is normal to have some white milk residue on babies tongue. I was worried about this too, and I was told it is perfectly normal! Thrush would be a very thick white FURRY coating on babies tongue. If you are really concerned, see your doctor. Or call. But it sounds like milk residue to me. You sound like a very good momy, I’m glad you love your little one so much.

I burnt my tongue and after wards ate sunflower seeds. All the salt stung my tongue but I kept eating them, then my tongue turned white.
