Is yogurt okay on a Candida diet?

Question by Juanita S: Is yogurt okay on a Candida diet?
I’ve been reading over 2 different diets for Candida and one says to have yogurt and the other says not to. One says you can have lemons and limes and the other says not to. One say you can have carrots and the other says not to? Which diet should I go by? Do you have any reccommendations for a Candida diet, and what about the yogurt?

Answer by SALLI58As long as it doesn’t have sugar it should be okay.
Foods to Eat

Vegetables (including plenty of raw garlic), protein foods (beef, chicken, eggs, fish), live yogurt cultures (both dairy and non-dairy,) FOS*, whey, acidophilus, green algae’s (such as spirulina and chlorella), nuts, seeds and oils, and non-glutenous grains (like millet, rice, rice bran and oat bran).
* FOS, or Fructo-oligosaccharides, are nondigestible dietary fibers that help to keep the stomach and bowels healthy. FOS are considered a “prebiotic” because they nourish the naturally present “friendly” bacteria (especially Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli) which help to ward off infection in the digestive system.
Foods to Avoid

Aged cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, fresh fruits, fermented foods, mushrooms, vinegar, glutenous foods (wheat, rye, oats, barley), all sugars, honeys . . . → Read More: Is yogurt okay on a Candida diet?

(Please Answer only if you have had experience) Can I eat yogurt on the Anti-Candida Diet?

Question by Missy: (Please Answer only if you have had experience) Can I eat yogurt on the Anti-Candida Diet?
Yogurt has anywhere between 21-37 grams of sugar, yet the candida articles say to eat it, but avoid sugar? Are they talking about eating plain yogurt (which still is high in sugar)? Or do the live bacteria cancel out the sugar?

Best answer:

Answer by TennilleHi Missy,

The articles that say eat yogurt are talking about the plain unsweetened type of yogurt. The plain yogurt that I eat has about 16 grams of sugar and fortunately does not seem to aggravated my candida symptoms. Some candida dieters can tolerate plain yogurt and the live and active cultures such as acidophilus and bifidus regularis are helpful to candida dieters. These live and active cultures are probiotics and although they do not eliminate candida from the intestinal system they contribute healthy bacteria that helps to restore balance to your intestinal system. This is why many resources advocate eating plain yogurt on the candida diet. This may not work for everyone though. You will start to find that what works for some on this diet may not work for you. Cure Your Vaginal Thrush With Yogurt

Cure Your Vaginal Thrush With Yogurt

A popular cure for vaginal thrush is yogurt. Many women have successfully used a yogurt remedy to eliminate their symptoms. As a cure for vaginal thrush yogurt is safe, cheap, effective, and many sufferers report that it works quite quickly. Here, you’ll learn about the benefits and how to use yogurt correctly to beat your thrush.

Vaginal thrush – often called vaginal yeast infection – is a nasty infection of the vagina caused by a fungi called Candida Albicans.  When this overgrows, it causes yeast infections which can occur anywhere, often in the vagina.

Drug-based topical creams etc., may only give temporary relief because they address the symptoms of vaginal thrush, not the root cause. And, since they are drug-based, the Candida fungi can develop a resistance to them. This can lead to recurring thrush attacks. Which is why many more women are now turning to a totally natural cure for vaginal thrush. Yogurt is one of their favorites.

Yogurt for treating thrush has to be plain, sugarless, with no fruit, no color, or any other additives. It must have ‘live and active cultures’, or a similar note, on the container. This is because one of the active cultures in this type of yogurt is called ’Lactobacillus acidophilus’, a . . . → Read More: Cure Your Vaginal Thrush With Yogurt

How long will a topical(internal and external) yogurt treatment relieve yeast infection symptoms?

Question by Katy Martin: How long will a topical(internal and external) yogurt treatment relieve yeast infection symptoms?
I used a 1200 mg monistat ovule last night for a yeast infection. this morning i was in horrible pain. awful itching, burning, stinging. i applied yogurt and felt relief besides a feeling of warmth inside my vagina. a second time i used the tampon method after scooping what i could of the yeast(and possibly some of the monistat)out in the shower. if i have plans for the night, will the relief from these two treatments likely last until tomorrow?

Best answer:

Answer by TweetyBirdThe itching, burning and stinging are all due to the effect the vaginal candidiasis has on the vaginal membranes. They’re inflamed. The 1200mg ovule is Monistat 1 day Day & Night. It’s a one time dose and will likely resolve the infection permanently. If yogurt helps, you can continue to use it or you can speak to your doctor about a topical cream to supply immediate symptom relief for the symptoms.
