How long can I take ketoconazole?

Question by synergy12_6: How long can I take ketoconazole?
I’d like to try taking it for my hyperandrogenism and PCOS. I’ve taken it for candida before and didn’t have any negative side effects. I’ve read some studies that claim it to be a very effective treatment, but I’m concerned about the possible liver damage. Can you just take it as long as your liver is still functioning well or is there an estimated cut off?

Best answer:

Answer by aWellWisherFor prostate cancer patients are advised high dose (800 to 1200 mg/day) ketoconazole for many months, but their blood ketoconazole levels are monitored frequently and there is always a risk of impaired LFT.
See this page-

Of course you need to discuss this with your doctor, I don’t think you will need so high dose. Also, once the effect is established, the dose may be tapered off to lowest limit.
It just occurred to me. can it be a trial as alternating between ketoconazole and metformin?
All the best!

Can you take the thrush tablet (Fluconazole) when going through IVF treatment?

Question by julie m: Can you take the thrush tablet (Fluconazole) when going through IVF treatment?
Just received first injection yesterday of prostart and feel like i have thrush. Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice. i will call my doctor tomorrow but information today would be good.

Best answer:

Answer by Irritated LactivistThat should not affect the IVF treatment. For what it’s worth, Fluconazole didn’t get rid of my thrush, but Grapefruit Seed Extract did. You can get it in pill or liquid form and it is a very powerful natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and antiparasitic.
Good luck!

should a naturalpathic be okay to take diflucan?

Question by bella log: should a naturalpathic be okay to take diflucan?
Diagnosed with candida overgrowth. Began treating with diet. Had to go to my pcp because I had a full blown outbreak (rash). Was prescribed fluconazole generic to diflucan. He prescribed 1 once a week tablet 150mg for 3wks. Called my naturalpathic explained what had happened and what his opinion was for taking Fluconazole. He agreed to take medication. First couple of days after I took the first dose my rash was completely gone. But I began getting side effects funny taste in mouth, severe leg and knee pain, sore throat etc. I looked up meds and came across a web page of patients and comment on the drug. It was scary. There has been cases people getting stevens johnson disease which if not treated correctly you can die. I can’t believe a naturalpathic would agree to a drug w/such severe side effects. You go to a naturalpathic for natural remedies not conventional meds that kill you. Want to hear from any natural pathics and any difucan sufferers. I hope my symptoms go away. . . . → Read More: should a naturalpathic be okay to take diflucan?

how long does fluconazole actually take to start reducing the symptoms for a yeast infection?

Question by pensive: how long does fluconazole actually take to start reducing the symptoms for a yeast infection?
I have never had a yeast infection before, unfortunately i was prescribed some antibiotics for a urinary tract infection, and the side effect was lo and behold…a yeast infection! I was given fluconazole by my doctor, but the itching that accompanies a yeast infection along with the nasty looking white, thick discharge has taken a while to dissipate. It is now, the fourth day since i took the fluconazole and my symptoms barely seem to be improving…so, i was wondering if normally fluconazole takes a while before it begins clearing up the uncomfortable symptoms that come with a yeast infection. I’ve read information on this, and the majority states that it DOES indeed take about 3-5 days to start making some serious improvements…is this really the case?

Best answer:

Answer by lauren0531Call your doctor, you should have felt so relived the next day after starting it…it does take 3-5 days for the full result to be felt, but you should really feel so much better by now…call your doctor, don’t take baths, don’t douche, eat a yogurt in the morning and at night, and . . . → Read More: how long does fluconazole actually take to start reducing the symptoms for a yeast infection?

Candida Diet – Take Control Of Your Health

Candida Diet – Take Control Of Your Health

Is a candida diet right for me? If you’re suffering from any of the long list of symptoms caused by candida overgrowth or just want to live your life a little healthier then the answer is YES! Candida albicans is yeast that can overgrow and cause numerous health problems. Issues usually present themselves in the mouth, vagina and intestines. It can cause fatigue, headaches, joint pain, and cravings (especially for sweets and sugar). The candida diet outlines foods to avoid. This is done in order to starve and kill off the overgrowth of yeast and rid your body of its harmful toxins.

Let me just state that before beginning any diet, this one included, you should meet with your doctor. If you’re suffering from a lot of the symptoms above it’s smart to have a checkup and make sure there aren’t more serious issues at play.

Another thing you want to do is buy your groceries well in advance, this is a restrictive diet and a hard one to follow without the right ingredients. Don’t put yourself in a position to fail! I would also strongly suggest getting rid of anything that would tempt . . . → Read More: Candida Diet – Take Control Of Your Health
