Question by kelly m: What kind of acidophilus should I take for thrush?
I’m breastfeeding, and think I might have thrush. I don’t have all the symptoms, but my nipples really hurt when I nurse. I don’t have shooting pain in my breasts, and the pain doesn’t last once I stop nursing. But when I nurse it feels like baby has razors in her mouth. I feel great relief when I stop.
I don’t think it’s improper latch. She’s 9months , so I think by now she knows how to latch properly.
I thought of using gentian violet and acidophilus. Is it okay to take lactobacilus acidophilus if you can’t drink milk? If not what else can I take?
And also, can I use gentian violet? Will it stain my baby’s teeth?
Best answer:
Answer by KooriGirlIf you are lactose intolerant, lactobacillus acidophillus is very good for you, as it helps to break down lactose (milk sugars) by producing the enzyme lactase, which lactose intolerant individuals do not produce.
Have a look at this link for lactobacillus acidophillus.

Question by instantstarluvr22: I’m on an anti-candida diet. Are these two supplements ok to take together?
I’m taking B12 because I’m eating no dairy, as well as Acidophilus. Is it okay to take these two together?
Best answer:
Answer by SkepDoc 2.0sure. it’s also ok not to take either of them
True systemic candidiasis is a severe and life threatening infection that may occur in very ill people, or those with immune dysfunction, such as HIV/AIDS
“Altie Candidiasis” is a pseudo-disease, and therefore all treatments of it are non-treatments. It is particularly trendy with Naturopaths and almost everyone ever seen by a naturopath gets diagnosed with some sort of food intolerance or candida. Conveniently, the naturopath usually has a lot of products to sell you to deal with that.

Question by Miriam I: HELP! i had itching and vaginal discharge and persistent cough. i did not take treatment for three months.?
Later went to a doctor, took a test I was given peflotab then erythromycin for strep and cipro for the vaginitis (STAPH). This didnt work either. I went to another doctor who prescribed Secindazole tablets and ofloxacin for two weeks for the vaginitis and it improved, but started a week later. I did another test and i was told i had candida, no staph found. I was given Augmentin for the cough and metronidazole for the candida. The cough got cured but the candida persisted. I was then given fluconazole twice and clotrimazole vaginal cream, but the stubborn candida still stayed, i was given miconazole vaginal cream last week and still, no soap! Im going crazy about this! Can someone out there please help?

Question by oopsgoesmeeh: What happens if you don’t take the three day treatment for a yeast infection every three days?
Yesterday was suppose to be my last day for Monistat 3 but i accidentally forgot to take it last night so when i woke up this morning i quickly took the last treatment. Will it still get rid of my yeast infection or do i have to restart and buy another treatment?
Best answer:
Answer by ?????ø?e?;;? ?ø? ?efe??e????Uhm I just got rid of mine literally two days ago and I only used it two days cause I forgot too lol I also hope you plan on doing anything today o.o you’re supposed to be laying down when using that, that’s why they want you to use it right before you go to bed
I also think it depends on how bad yours is. This time which is my second it wasn’t that bad so I don’t think the three day one was needed for me to get rid of it :p Well that and my period just came on so it was making it hard for the yeast to grow anyway
So in the future if you have one a day or two before your . . . → Read More: What happens if you don’t take the three day treatment for a yeast infection every three days?

Question by synergy12_6: How long can I take ketoconazole?
I’d like to try taking it for my hyperandrogenism and PCOS. I’ve taken it for candida before and didn’t have any negative side effects. I’ve read some studies that claim it to be a very effective treatment, but I’m concerned about the possible liver damage. Can you just take it as long as your liver is still functioning well or is there an estimated cut off?
Best answer:
Answer by aWellWisherFor prostate cancer patients are advised high dose (800 to 1200 mg/day) ketoconazole for many months, but their blood ketoconazole levels are monitored frequently and there is always a risk of impaired LFT.
See this page-
http://www.prostate-cancer.org/education/andeprv/Lam_HDK.html
Of course you need to discuss this with your doctor, I don’t think you will need so high dose. Also, once the effect is established, the dose may be tapered off to lowest limit.
It just occurred to me. can it be a trial as alternating between ketoconazole and metformin?
All the best!

Question by julie m: Can you take the thrush tablet (Fluconazole) when going through IVF treatment?
Just received first injection yesterday of prostart and feel like i have thrush. Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice. i will call my doctor tomorrow but information today would be good.
Best answer:
Answer by Irritated LactivistThat should not affect the IVF treatment. For what it’s worth, Fluconazole didn’t get rid of my thrush, but Grapefruit Seed Extract did. You can get it in pill or liquid form and it is a very powerful natural anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-viral and antiparasitic.
Good luck!
