Nystatin question for treatment of thrush?

Question by ?Holly? Mama to Jaden and Rylee: Nystatin question for treatment of thrush?
I have had such a rough time for the past few weeks. I will make this as short as possible. My daughter is 8 months old. She had croup, that turned into an ear infection, she was on Omnicef. She finished the antibiotics on Sunday. Sunday night she was up all night and cried and cried. So I got her back in to the doc today. Instead of one ear infection, she now has one in both ears. So, since she was on antibiotics and finished them, she has to get 3 shots of Rocephin and then if she isn’t any better on Thursday, we will talk other options. She was crying when the doc was looking in her ears, and I saw she had thrush, and I told the doc I saw white spots in her mouth and that she had thrush. He said “Ok, I will give her Nystatin” So, my grandmother-in-law is keeping Rylee today and she called and said the instructions said “Apply to affected area with each diaper change” I asked . . . → Read More: Nystatin question for treatment of thrush?

Thrush and treatment question?

Question by Sarah: Thrush and treatment question?
I can’t get my 4 1/2 month old baby girl into the doctors till monday. I’m pretty sure we have thrush and I have some nystatin for her than she took last time we had thrush (about 1 1/2 months ago). Since I used the dropper in her mouth, is it contaminated or can I use it again. Or do I need to just throw that stuff out and wait till monday. We are having symptoms, but she is also teething so as far as not wanting to nurse…not sure about that. But she does n\have small white patches on her cheeks and small ones on her lips inside. So any thoughts anyone on the nystatin?

It is over the counter so you can use it until you bring her to the doctor. My doctor recommended and it worked wonders for me. Question about yeast infection symptoms?

Question by Ilyssa S: Question about yeast infection symptoms?
I was diagnosed with a yeast infection by my gynecologist back in November, but it was very mild, so she gave me a prescription for some cream and told me to fill it only if I started to get symptoms. Well, for the past few weeks, (TMI warning) I was feeling somewhat itchy down there, I was getting some of that distinctive cottage cheese discharge, and I realized that I was drying out very quickly during sex, and that was making sex rather uncomfortable and somewhat painful. Over the past few days, the discharge became more copious, and this morning, when I woke up, it burned when I urinated, so my mother (who is a P.A.) wrote me a prescription for Diflucan, which I took this morning.

My question is, I really haven’t been itching or burning all that much: I only have the discharge and the painful urination (it only starts to hurt about halfway through). Is it common to have a yeast infection without intense itching and/or burning?

Candida diet question?

Question by synergy12_6: Candida diet question?
I am on the candida diet and I know that this is not a life-long diet, but don’t know what to do after the 3 months of cleansing. What foods might be acceptable to eat then?

Best answer:

Answer by MelanieIn general you should stay away from excessive amounts of sugars and complex carbohydrates. Yeasty foods like beer can also cause trouble.

There’s a list of recommended foods in the link below. This also incorporates foods from the Yeast Infection Diet. It should be helpful.

Yeast Infection Treatment Question?

Question by hazeleyes202001: Yeast Infection Treatment Question?
On Monday I started a yeast infection treatment. (over-the counter medicine) The treatment is to be used 7 nights straight.

I’m just curious: even if the infection is cleared up after the 7 night treatment is used, should I try something else right after (home remedy) to safeguard it? Or just wait and see if the medicine works?

Best answer:

Answer by ?Rose?Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, only use that 7 day treatment. If it does not go away, go back in to see your doctor.

Candida vegetarian diet question?

Question by Drewbaby from the Dangerous Crew: Candida vegetarian diet question?
I am a vegetarian, and I am supposed to have meat for the Candida diet. I’m obviously not going to eat meat. I am not supposed to have any sugar at ALL, in order to kill the yeast overgrowth. What can I replace the meat with for protein? I am eating a lot of beans and brown rice. I don’t know if beans or brown rice will turn into sugar. Any help would be great, especially if you know about intestinal yeast overgrowth (Candida) diet.

Question about yeast infection/warning on the box. Many symptoms, TMI?

Question by Mr & Mrs G: Question about yeast infection/warning on the box. Many symptoms, TMI?
Ok, so I think i have a yeast infection…yuck. Its not my first, I think I get them alot but I don’t know what alot is. Anyway, on the box it says;

“Ask a docor before use if you have lower abdominal, back, or shoulder pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomitting, or foul-smelling discharge.”

Why does it say that? What are those signs of? I have all the symptoms of yeast infection (white discharge, itching, and painful sex) and also most of the above symptoms (Bad pain in lower abdomin, SEVERE shoulder pain, back pain, nausea and vomitting almost daily for 2-3 months, foul odor) I tohught they weren’t even related, I would have never thought they were related! Especially since the other symptoms have been going on for a few months and the yeast infection symptoms have only been a week or 2. Whats going on?
Oh, and the medicine I got is OTC Monistat 3 suppositories. I don’t have medical insurance right now but I am a little worried because I have been trying to get pregnant for years and I haven’t had a period since may 1st, . . . → Read More: Question about yeast infection/warning on the box. Vaginal yeast infection question: I had 3 outbreaks recently following intercourse. What may be causing them?

Question by betta: Vaginal yeast infection question: I had 3 outbreaks recently following intercourse. What may be causing them?
I started seeing a man recently. We had intercourse on 5 seperate occasions over the last two months and on 3 of those I developed vaginal yeast infections a couple of days after the intercourse. Could it be related to some type of STD?

I have not been sexually active before this partner for about a year. Before that I have had yeast infections on a couple of occasions but not back to back like this. I am very concerned.
