Answer by snagglecandyi don’t think candida is an STD all candida is , is a bacteria infection in your body if it is the doc will give you medication to fight it off you’ll be alright .

Answer by AngelaYes, My daughter got thrush while breastfeeding and I got it on the breast. I actually used something called Gentian Violet. It’s a chemical that’s harmless to you and to the baby. I had to rub some of it on my breast and in the baby’s mouth. Now, beware: It will turn your breast and the baby’s mouth VERY purple. This is okay – it’s normal. But this is what the dorctor told me to do for it, and it worked after only 3 treatments. It’s an over the counter thing, but it’s hard to find in your regular drugstore. I ordered mine online and it came in 2 days. It was such a great relief and a big help. You can look it up online to find it.It usually runs anywhere from $ 5 – $ 10 for a 2 oz bottle – depending on what percent solution you get (they a have a 1% solution for $ 5 and a 2% for closer to $ 10). i developed thrush, went to the doctors they gave me the treatment with the pessary, it has cleared up, and i trued to have sex with my boyfriend and we had to stop because it hurt so much, im really worried that it wont go, and i dont understand why this is happening. please help ?
it was like a sharp pain in the right hand side of the vagina, and itt was lubricated, is that pain part of the thrush ?
will the pain definitely go ? im really worried, my friend had the same symptoms and she ended up not having sex with her boyfriend for months, im literally really worried.
my boyfriend right now is my only sexual partner, we were both virgins before so there isnt any chance of sti’s .

Answer by prozacThere is a possibility that it hasnt cleared up internally. Try eating natural yoghurt this normally helps with thrush and clears it up…..

The other day I used the treatment and it was so irritating and almost painful I had to rinse it out of me. Has anyone ever had this happen?

Answer by jalinaI do, and something similar happened to me, then i have to go to the emergency room; my doc said that this medication is not appropiate for all kind of irritation, so if i were u i would ask an expert about it.

Have you ever been tested for type 2 diabetes from just having persistent thrush (and no other symptoms)?

Question by J_1978: Have you ever been tested for type 2 diabetes from just having persistent thrush (and no other symptoms)?
I have had a problem with vaginal thrush for years now and I asked 3 different doctors if it was possible I could have diabetes, but they all said it wasn’t likely and that I didn’t need a test. But I’m beginning to wonder really, so just wondering if any other ladies have had the test purely from having this problem, and if so, what was the result? I have tried everything else and it is doing my head in.

Answer by sokoklYes, chronic yeast infection can be a symptom of Diabetes (not just Type 2). Because the other doctors don’t feel you need the test I would recommend getting another opinion and preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctors you have already seen.

So far I’ve only been able to stay on a very strict candida diet of meat and low carb vegetables for ten days. The cravings were horrible and I felt very anxious and angry the whole time I was on the diet, but all of my candida symptoms including the brain fog were going away. I really want to stay on the diet because I think it is the only way to get rid of candida. I’ve had candida for about 4 years and was advised to stay on the diet for four months. Does this diet ever get easier or will I just have to suffer for four months?

Answer by namairb2Why not just take an anti-fungal medication and be done and over with it in 10 days instead of 4 months? I’m surprised the doctor didn’t tell you about this, instead of letting you stay on this diet. After this I might consider changing doctors, unless there’s some reason you can’t take it. I have been on antibiotics for years due to constant sinus infections and as a result i now have dysfunctional intestinal flora syndrome i.e to much yeast in the body now i have to detox for 4 months to rid my body of this yeast don’t know what to eat and i am starving and having withdrawals does anyone know or have been on this any info on foods will be greatly appreciative!

Have any of you ever been on the Candida Diet? If so did you loose weight? I am not on this diet to loose weight. I actually do not need to loose weight, but was told I may loose 10 – 20 pounds in the next three months I am on this diet.

How healthy is this diet?

The Candida Diet is nothing like the Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet, Weight Watchers, or any of that. This diet consists of you NOT eating any carbs, sugars (that means no alcohol, fruits, any pre-made foods, condiments, etc.), diary (unless it is plain low-fat yogurt…YUCK), and excess fat. I feel as if all I will be eating are greens and lemon juice with water for 3 months.

I was also told that I may get depressed and feel overwhelmed!

Any ideas?

Answer by Kathryn Lyes you can but try to slowly work your way up to what you consider a “normal” diet so that you can pinpoint exactly what caused the infection and avoid that particular food.
