i didnt know what thrush was til i went to the doctor and by that time the babys mouth was pretty infected. nystatin did nothing to either of us. now i am tryin the violet stuff but i am begining to worry…its been 2 weeks since i started a treatment and still no sign of a change…how long does it take in a normal baby…i think she had it for 3 weeks prior. she is only 6 weeks old and otherwise healthy and eating well.

Answer by dueoct16boy#3It took my younger son 3 months to finally get it cleared up all the way. The nystatin (I think that is what the DR gave) did eventually work but it took a long time. The violet stuff put ulcers in his mouth unfortunately (which is a common side-effect I am told) so we just couldn’t use it. But after 3 months he was all clear of it. He was about 6 wks old when he first started the treatment.
